How it all started

It is the summer of 1986. Bart Koene is successfully selling hand-sewn swimming trunks on the très chic beaches of Saint-Tropez. One of the girls helping him wraps a piece of cloth around her head to protect herself from the sun and soon people were asking if they could buy this "cool" bandana. There it was, the eureka moment. Bart decided to focus on headgear and just a few years later the BARTS® brand was born.
